Looking for Extra Reflex Training? Try the Select Goalie Reflex Ball!

Hey Keepers!

The Select Goalie Reflex Ball is a great addition to any goalkeeper training session. Its weighted bladder (or panels depending on the model) affects how the ball bounces making every save a challenge. When this goalkeeper specific ball is kicked on the ground, every bounce is a bad bounce. And when it is kicked in the air, the weighted parts of the ball will make it knuckle making it very realistic for when a goalkeeper plays on a poor field or plays with one of the newer advanced matchSelect Goalie Reflex Ball balls.

Coaching points to make when using the Select Goalie Reflex Ball:

  • Move your feet: Make sure the goalkeeper is moving his/her feet to get his/her full body behind the ball.  This goalkeeper trainer ball will expose his/her poor footwork if he/she does not move his/her feet.
  • Stay on your feet: The goalkeeper shouldn’t dive unless he/she has to.  If the ball takes a bad bounce and the goalkeeper has already chosen to dive, he/she may struggle catching or even saving the shot.
  • One play at a time: Again the ball will expose poor technique and goalkeeping habits.  If the goalie takes his/her eye off the ball for one second (because he/she is thinking about distribution) the ball could very well take a bad bounce.
  • Where to buy the Select Goalie Reflex Ball:

This soccer ball is pretty specific and only pertains to 1 out of 11 players on the field so you may have trouble finding it at your local soccer shop or sports department store.  However, you can find it online from anywhere between $30 and $50.
