Many goalkeepers choose not to wear protective goalkeeper shorts or pants for three reasons: because they feel too bulky, because they give off too much heat, or because they aren’t the least bit flattering. Under Armour’s newest offering won’t win you any style points, but they may have solved the heat/bulk problems with the Eliminate MPZ Compression Shorts. These uniquely-designed goalkeeper compression shorts feature Under Armour’s Modular Protection Zones (MPZ) at key contact points, which helps keep those nasty thigh bruises at bay. Like all Under Armour products, these are lightweight and flexible while also providing support. Bargain shoppers can certainly find cheaper compression shorts, but at $49 the Eliminate MPZ is a solid combination of premium protection and reliable support. Plus, if you line dry and don’t bleach, they should last a couple of seasons. Bottom line, they are a good addition to all goalkeepers’ wardrobes, and a lifesaver if you play on hard ground or indoor surfaces.

Have you considered a higher waist protection for the upper hip / pelvis / lower abdomen, that will provide impact protection but still retain mobility and movement for a goal keeper (soccer)?

Hi Alex,
Do you know of something of that nature out there? I’d be curious to see it.
